Abstract

This project aims to determine a viable replacement for conversion coating, which can be applied to Hydro's current manufacturing process to reduce lead time. Team 11 was tasked with conceptualizing and completing an in-depth experimental design. Hydro has asked for at least one viable replacement to conversion coating and the corresponding sample(s) for 6-12 week aged lap shear testing. Testing has determined the need to explore treatment combinations and compare them to singular combinations. This testing determined 3M AC-130-2, Loctite 7471 + 1000 grit sandpaper and 3M AC-130-2 + Sodium Carbonate would be submitted to Hydro for validation/aging testing.
