Wearable Mechanical Shoulder Rehabilitation Device

Abstract

Based on our data collection and benchmarking, our team designed a fully mechanical, wearable rehabilitation device for older adults with osteoarthritis working to regain or keep their shoulder mobility. This device was designed for performing specific shoulder rehabilitation exercises, focusing on shoulder posture and correct execution of movements. Based on our research, we included features such as allowing the user to used different resistance bands to accommodate the user's progressing strength, being suitable for both in-clinic and at-home use, being wearable, supporting 6 specific exercises for the right arm, and being purely mechanical
